DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
Chief John Valentine, Department Director

HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT
Glenn Jorgensen, Highway Superintendent

ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
Ted Sanford, Town Engineer

Under the leadership of Town Supervisor Vecchio and the Town Board a committee was formulated in 2005 including the Highway Department, the Department of Public Safety, and the Engineering Department who have been working together on the groundwater and other natural hazards and issues.

The Town of Smithtown has been participating in a multi-jurisdictional planning effort to devise and implement man-made initiatives that can help lessen the impact of natural hazards in our community. The Suffolk County Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee was established in 2005, with the Town of Smithtown as one of its original participating members.

Click in the box to the left for recent informational updates, designed to increase communication between our residents and the Town of Smithtown. In addition to these updates we have been asked by the United States Small Business Administration to assist in notifying the people and entities that may be eligible for a low interest loan in an effort to mitigate ground water issues in your area.
